THE GEORGETTE GAZETTE

Issue #6 - Monday, September 12, 2005

Hey everybody! Georgette here.

This edition will be short on news and long on information.  The enormity of the damage from Hurricane Katrina continues to sink in and I wanted to at least pass along the updated information below in case it would help anyone.  Keep those prayers going, too!

Before we get to the info, a few quick items:

-After hearing about Habitat For Humanity’s plan to build at least 1000 new homes for Hurricane Katrina survivors, we’re now donating half the proceeds from sales of my CD to them to help with that project.

-Esther Berlanga’s interview with me for CMA Spain is due to be published by All About Country this week.  If you’re not already signed up, just go to www.AllAboutCountry.com for the free registration.

-Finally, my Dad turns 74 today!  You can wish him happy birthday by clicking the e-mail button on his Fans page at http://www.georgejones.com/fans/index.htm.

That’s it for now.  Please pass along the info below to anyone you think could use it.

Thanks for your support!

THE GEORGETTE GAZETTE

Issue #5 - Friday, September 2, 2005

Hey everybody! Georgette here.

Was that a quick month or what?  It’s hard to believe five weeks have gone by since the last newsletter!

Before I get to the news, I just want to ask everyone to remember the Katrina victims in your prayers every day and to help with the relief efforts in any way that you can.  A good place to find out who is organizing aid and other information is at the following FEMA webpage: http://www.fema.gov/press/2005/resources_katrina.shtm.  Please also see the list of relief agencies at the end of this newsletter.  We are now donating half of the proceeds from sales of my CD through the fan club address (see details at http://www.georgettejones.com/cd%20page.htm).  The American Red Cross will receive $3.75 for each CD that is bought directly from the fan club.

As many of you know from the announcement on our Yahoo! Group, I recently signed an exclusive songwriting/co-publishing deal with Cosmic Mule Music.  Although I’ve been writing songs for a while now, I guess this officially makes me a professional songwriter and I am naturally very happy and excited!  Along with their own fantastic roster (see www.cosmicmulemusic.com for everybody’s names and bios), I’ll be working with writers from all over Music Row – including some who have written hit songs for my Dad!  RCA is really outdoing itself in finding me writing partners, too.

Speaking of which – thanks to those of you who made it to the George Jones concert at Lanierland in Cumming, Georgia last Saturday.  Dad called about a week before the show and asked me to come over and sit in on a few songs.  I sang “Stone Country” and “Stand By Your Man” plus a duet with Dad on “Golden Ring”.  It was a wonderful night for me both on stage and off.  Everyone was great.  See the website and the Yahoo! Group for some photos.

Thanks also to those of you who have been asking about the TammyWynette.com website.  My sisters and I have been looking into it and are trying to help get it back online, but we’ve had trouble getting through to the current owners.  We’ll keep trying.

As reported in Issue #4, Country Weekly magazine hired me to interview Dad and that interview will be out around the 10th of October.  The big occasion, of course, is Dad’s new CD coming out on Tuesday, September 13 – Hits I Missed and One I Didn’t.  Everyone I know who has heard it loves it, and you know I do!  If you just can’t wait, you can order it now at www.georgejones.com.  Dad also has an interview with Music City News that you can find online here and which also gives me a little plug.  Thanks Dad!

And speaking of interviews, a very nice lady named Esther Berlanga recently interviewed me for CMA Spain (www.cmaspain.com).  They plan to put it on their website soon and to also make it available on www.AllAboutCountry.com (a free registration is required).  Stay tuned for details.

Coming up on September 28th, I’ve been invited to join many other Nashville entertainment and sports figures at a benefit dinner show for Child Help USA.  I am not very familiar with this charity – which focuses on the treatment and prevention of child abuse – but it is heavily supported by people I respect very much, so I invite you to find out more about them by visiting www.childhelpusa.com.

Last but not least, we’ve now added a Links page to my website to help you find out more about the various persons and organizations involved in my music career as well as some friends of mine.  Feel free to suggest additions if you think we’re leaving anyone out.

I hope you all have a nice and safe Labor Day Weekend. Thanks again for all your support!

Your friend,

Georgette Jones  georgette@georgettejones.com

THE GEORGETTE GAZETTE

Issue #4 - Friday, July 22, 2005

Hey everybody! Georgette here.

Thanks for all the compliments on the CMT Insider featurette.  As you all know from that, I’m currently in what they call a “development deal” with RCA.  That basically means they liked the three songs on my CD enough to pay for the production of a few more songs before deciding whether to officially add me to their artist roster.  I am thrilled to report that the producer who will be working with me on these songs is none other than Alan Jackson’s multi award-winning producer, Keith Stegall!  In addition to being a gifted singer, songwriter and guitar player himself – Keith has also produced great music with stars like John Anderson, Tracy Byrd, Terri Clark, Eric Heatherly, Sammy Kershaw, Kathy Mattea, Jamie O’Neal, Randy Travis, Mark Wills, and last (but not least), George Jones!  I love all those singers (especially dad, of course) so I dare anyone to find me a more perfect producer.  You can find more info on Keith at his website, www.keithstegall.com.

So now we’re trying to find the perfect songs and I’m working on a few new ones with some awesome Nashville writers in hopes that we’ll come up with something for the next session, or at least a future album.  Many of you in the Yahoo! Group have asked whether my dad and I will record anything together.  I can tell you that we both want to and plan to, but we haven’t decided what and when yet.  Ditto on me joining him for any of his tour dates.  I’ll let you know when there’s more to report.

Speaking of reporting, Country Weekly magazine asked if I’d like to interview dad about his new album, Hits I Missed...And One I Didn’t, which comes out Tuesday, Sept. 13.  This album has already created a buzz about dad’s duet with Dolly Parton on a Hank Jr. classic (“The Blues Man”) and dad’s new (and improved?) version of the #1 country song of all time (“He Stopped Loving Her Today”).  Well, since mom interviewed dad in Country Music Magazine when that song first came out (1980), I was honored to be asked and accepted right away (before they changed their minds, LOL).  Stay tuned for the interview street date, and you can subscribe or find out more about the magazine at www.countryweekly.com.

That’s all for now.  Thanks again for all your support!
